Colin P.M. Gear of Stoneham died on Friday, Jan. 29, 2016. He was 20.
Born in Winchester on March 20, 1995, he was the son of Kelly J. McGuiggin of Vineyard Haven and Ralph D. Gear of Stoneham.
Colin was a graduate of Stoneham High School, class of 2013. He was a junior at UMass in Dartmouth, studying political science. He was a lifelong Stoneham resident and loved fishing, swimming, lifting weights, and all types of music, but most of all, he loved to laugh. He spent many wonderful times on Martha’s Vineyard over the years with his mom, siblings, and extended family.
In addition to his parents, Colin is survived by his two sisters, Mary M. McCarthy and Kiera R. McCarthy, and his two brothers, Liam F. McCarthy and Declan M. McCarthy, all of Vineyard Haven; his grandmother, Margaret Dinardi of New Hampshire; grandmother Julia McGuiggin of Biddeford, Maine; his stepmother, Jennifer Gear of Stoneham; his stepbrother, Jeffrey Genest, his stepsister, Audrey Genest, both of Stoneham; and his stepfather, Michael McCarthy of Somerville. He was predeceased by his grandparents John McGuiggin and Ralph and Bertha Gear.
His funeral will be held from the McDonald-Finnegan Funeral Home, 322 Main Street, Stoneham, on Monday at 9 am, followed by a funeral Mass at St. Patrick Church, 71 Central Street, Stoneham, at 10 am. Visitation for relatives and friends at the funeral home is on Sunday from 1 to 4 pm.
