Paul Edgar Konig of Edgartown, formerly of Arlington, passed away peacefully, surrounded by his family, on Dec. 13, 2020, after a brave battle with pancreatic cancer.

Originally from Somerville, Paul moved to Arlington after he was married to raise his family. Paul was a hard-working and ambitious person who achieved much in his life. He was a proud Eagle Scout, and a veteran of the U.S. Marine Corps, as well as a 60-year member of the International Brotherhood of Electrical Workers. Paul was particularly proud of his work on several large construction projects that helped revitalize and reshape Boston, including the modernization of the MBTA rail lines, the Deer Island Wastewater Treatment Plant, and the Central Artery/Tunnel Project.

A jack-of-all-trades, he could fix anything, and always had a project to keep him busy. Paul had a wealth of knowledge about many subjects, and his family often looked to him for advice.

Paul and his wife, Joanne, were longtime summer residents of Martha’s Vineyard who retired in Edgartown to enjoy gardening, the beach, and spending time with their ten grandchildren. In retirement, Paul was an avid reader, and enjoyed many traveling adventures.

He was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 50 years, Joanne (Venuti) Konig. He is survived by his three daughters, Katherine Forbes and husband Frank of Hingham and their children Jack, Frankie, Julia, and Paul; Elizabeth Konig and husband Carlos Melero of Wayland and their children Carlos, Marina, and Marco; Christina Konig and husband Steven Bergantino of Ridgewood, N.J., and their children Sophia, Juliette, and Charlie; and by his sister Mary Lou Flynn of Manchester, Vt. He was preceded in death by his parents Albert and Mary (Hannaford) Konig and brothers Albert and Richard Konig. Paul also leaves behind his dear friend, Barbara Gold.

Services will be private. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Paul’s memory to Hospice of Martha’s Vineyard at hospiceofmv.org/donations.
